    Join the Holocaust Awareness Committee and the Northeastern Humanities Center today at noon for a screening of "From Swastika to Jim Crow," a fascinating documentary about Jewish academics provided with refuge from Nazism by historically black colleges in the American South. A panel discussion with Northeastern faculty members will follow.

    Ari Abelman is a recent graduate of Brandeis University, majoring in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies as well as Linguistics. He has a strong background in Hebrew and has been to Israel several times. At Brandeis, he was a leader in BUCO, the organization for Conservative Judaism at Brandeis, and Shalem, Brandeis’ LGBT Jewish organization.

    When he is not tutoring students in Hebrew, Ari enjoys cooking, singing, and hiking.
