Shabbat
Shabbat offers the opportunity for students to come together at the end of a long week and enjoy a home-cooked meal, attend services, or just gather with their friends and other students of the Northeastern community at Hillel.
About Shabbat
Shabbat is a holiday of rest observed from Sundown Friday through Sunset Saturday. Shabbat is a special day, unlike any other during the week because we are forbidden from working. It gives us a chance to spend quality with our friends and family, time that we usually aren’t able to make during the week.
At Hillel we provide this opportunity for students. Every Friday night we have Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox services followed by dinner. This free Shabbat meal helps bring students together at the end of their busy weeks to relax with friends at Hillel. We also have Saturday programming like Lunch ‘n Learn that we also provide free for students as they continue to take the time to relax and recognize Shabbat, the day of rest.
To continue having the ability to provide free Shabbat meals to students we depend on generous donations from people like you. Please click below to donate a Shabbat meal for everyone, for one student, or for an amount of your choice. The students greatly appreciate it.
