Additionally, should you wish to discuss deepening your philanthropy at Hillel at any time, please consider establishing a current or endowed fund at the university and becoming a Huntington Society member. For additional information, please contact Gilad@northeasternhillel.org.
- Hillel receives 100% of the gift
- Your gift will count towards Northeastern University Giving Societies starting at $1000
- The Family Fellows Program was created as a way for Northeastern to recognize the generous support of its most loyal family donors. Hillel parents who make an annual gift of $10,000 or more, not only play an important role in the financial health of Hillel, but also make a powerful statement about how their families value the Jewish community at Northeastern. As a Fellow, you will witness the real-time impact of your generous giving on our Jewish students, inspire other families to support Hillel through your example, and join your peers in exclusive gatherings with Northeastern’s top leaders.

Giving Menu
1. Program Opportunities
Unrestricted Gifts for Areas of Greatest Need
Unrestricted gifts at any level allow us to quickly pivot as needed. Whether it is sponsoring tabling/noshing on the quad, or Jewish and Israeli educational events, we will have the resources to do so.
Student Engagement Programming $10,000
In fall of 2020 we hired a director of Jewish student life for the first time. Now we’re working on raising a budget for her so that she can continue to create programming to reach new communities and unengaged students.
Jewish Rabbinic Intern $10,000
Support will allow us to retain a Rabbinic Intern, who helps lead Shabbat and holiday services, directs Jewish Learning Fellowships and Passover seders. Particularly timely has been the counseling provided to students during the pandemic.
Ten-Part Jewish/Israel Learning Series $5,400
Our formula of creating student cohorts that meet every week has been a wonderful success. Our students gather together (in person or via zoom) to discuss Jewish texts, as well as a host of Israel and Jewish-focused issues. The students who complete the 10-part course, not only leave with a stronger foundation of Jewish knowledge, but a network of Jewish friends and acquaintances. Unlike university classes, there are no tests, homework, nor grades.
Israel Independence Day Festival Shabbaton $5,400
Israel independence day is a great opportunity to connect our Jewish community to the country where half the world’s Jews live. If we can’t bring students to Israel, we can at least bring Israel to students through an Israel-themed Shabbat celebration and Havdalah event. We also sponsor an Israel-themed scavenger hunt, all during the week of Israel’s Independence Day.
Passover $3,600
Whether students will be connecting with us via Zoom, in person or a mix of both, Passover is coming! We want to be ready and have the budget to ensure that this holiday of Jewish resilience will be memorable. For many, it is their first Passover away from home. For others, it is their first Seder. Regardless, we want to be able to offer them a delicious Kosher for Passover dinner, provide haggadahs, and hold workshops to teach students how to lead their own Seder.
Hanukkah Shabbat $3,600
This year, the second night of Hanukkah falls on Friday night. We thought of welcoming the holiday with a special Hanukkah Shabbat. During normal times, it is a great opportunity for the entire Jewish community to come together. This year, we will pass out bags with latkes, sufganiyot (jelly donuts), chocolate gelt, dreidels, candles, and menorahs. We will also provide a dinner on the Shabbat that falls during Hanukkah, allowing students to celebrate it together with roommates or friends.
Sponsor Jewish Networking Series $2000
Historically the Jewish community helped one another find jobs. We seek to return to that, and take advantage of our wonderful alumni all over the world who can now easily join us via Zoom! We plan on a series of such events which will view networking through a Jewish lens.
Shabbat $1800
Every week, we celebrate one of the most important holidays, Shabbat! While our students come from varied Jewish upbringings, Shabbat connects everyone in such a special way. While these challenging times prevent us from holding large gatherings, we want to ensure that all students who wish to be part of a Shabbat experience receive Grab and Go Shabbat dinner and ritual kits. They are able to celebrate with roommates and friends in their apartments and dorms or in open areas on the NU campus.
Community Service Projects $1000/project
Post pandemic, we hope to begin again to organize a range of community service projects.
Spring Holiday Celebrations $1000/celebration
I.Tu B’Shvat; II.Purim; III.Lag B’Omer; IV.Shavuot. We will provide holiday related food/meals as well as information and guidance to help students celebrate collectively or in smaller clusters.
2. Adopt a Room at Hillel
Our building is among the three oldest Hillel buildings in the country. It has so much potential, but needs much TLC. Helping us revitalize this space will provide a welcoming and attractive gathering area for years to come. A portion of the gift will be used to enhance the room, with the remaining invested in a fund that will support ongoing maintenance for years to come. Enhancements will include adding zoom capabilities and acquiring new furniture.
Dining Room $100,000 Chapel $54,000 Library $26,000 Mezuzah $3600 (17 opportunities).
Already committed and no longer available; basement lounge, one Mezuzah.
